This archive was created by descendants of Edwin J. W. and Margaret Keagy to tell the story of Lemon Blennd through the family’s records, photographs, advertisements, and correspondence.
A North Side beginning
Edwin Keagy was a Pittsburgh pharmacist whose orange-lemon concentrate first appeared in 1914. From Keagy’s Pharmacy on Perrysville Avenue, the drink caught the imagination of generations of Pittsburghers.
His role has often been overshadowed by the larger companies that later produced the drink—first Reymer Brothers and then H. J. Heinz. These pages restore the Keagy family’s place in that history.
A living family archive
The documents here follow Lemon Blennd from its early production challenges and 1928 fundraising effort through expansion, regulatory scrutiny, wartime distribution, western production, and the 1961 transition to Heinz.
Production was halted in 2022. The family continues to preserve the history of the drink and the memories it created.
